One of North Wales’ most reputable timber and builders merchants, family-run CL Jones Timber & Builders Merchants has worked with Midland Lead for eight years now.

Purchasing Manager Iain Buchanan, who’s worked with CL Jones for 25 years now, says: “The key things we look for in a supplier are service and quality of product. Midland Lead offer both; we have a great relationship with them and the quality of their machine cast lead is excellent.
At Midland Lead we offer both machine cast and rolled lead, however, Iain says his preference lies with machine cast. “We choose to stock machine cast over other types as it’s a great price and always good quality. It does very well; we sell approximately 6o tonnes annually. Our customers use the lead for various types of roofing and chimney work, and are always happy with the performance,” he says.
While happy with the quality and price, Iain – a committee member of h&b Group, the fastest growing buying association for independent builders merchants – says he initially chose Midland Lead due to the firm being an official h&b Group supplier.
“h&b Group provides a platform to better represent members’ interests in negotiations with suppliers, so we always prefer to purchase from its official suppliers where possible,” explains Iain.
With an aim to continue growing from strength to strength, and plans to look at a number of other sites over the next few months to expand the business, we look forward to seeing what the next eight years will bring with CL Jones.
