Swanwick Hall Midland Lead work with NRA roofing

Swanwick Hall Grade II Listed Building Re-roofing

Monday 7th January 2019

Swanwick Hall School is a secondary and sixth form school that has recently been granted academy status located in Alfreton, Derbyshire. With an enviable history and exciting future, the school is made up of an eclectic collection of buildings which provide a range of specialist facilities to support students’ learning. Judged consistently by Ofsted as ‘Good’ the school educates 1,250 students.

There are old and new buildings on the 22-acre site and at the heart is a beautiful 18th century Grade II Listed Hall that was in need of some complex restoration to the roof.

NRA Roofing worked closely with the local authority and the school to ensure that the restoration project ran smoothly, and the work began in May 2018 with a full replacement of the roof. When the roof was removed the timbers were replaced to the original specification which was white oak. Following this the roof of the listed building was carefully rebuilt using reclaimed natural slate and lead ensuring the hall was returned to its former glory.
