The spotlight is on – Windowmate

Midland Lead The Spotlight Is On

Company profile:

While Windowmate’s relationship with Midland Lead spans eight years, the independent family-run builders’ merchant dates back to 2003, when it was first set up by company director Justine Lee.

While the company began life as a building plastics merchant, specialising in windows, over the years it has become more of a general builders’ merchant serving both the trade and the public.

With an impressive showroom and trade counter in Coalville, Leicestershire, today Windowmate boasts a large selection of building supplies. Stock includes windows, guttering, fascias, sealants, trims, cleaning products, UPVC skirting, window boards, doors, underground drainage, and, of course, Midland Lead’s machine cast lead, fixing clips, patination oil and multi slates.

When Justine first took the move to stock lead sheet eight years ago, she explains why she decided to choose Midland Lead: “As lead sheet was new to me at the time, we initially chose Midland Lead due to their price and the fact that they’re based locally to us.

“But, as time has gone on, staying with Midland Lead has become less price orientated and more to do with being loyal to a supplier we’re very happy with. As well as competitive pricing, they offer us great service and our customers are happy with the product, so we don’t feel the need to look at other suppliers,” says Justine.

Selling lead sheet mainly for use on extensions on small builds, Justine notes that lead sales have definitely increased over the past two years, as have sales across the entire stock range.

“We feel the upturn in sales is down to a combination of things, including keeping our prices low, offering a much larger range of products, and the fact that we’ve also launched a website and social media profiles for the business,” she explains.
