Established in August 2008, South Coast Building Supplies is a rapidly expanding independent builders’ merchant, currently operating from three – soon to be four – branches across Dorset and Hampshire.
Offering great prices and service to both the trade and public, the firm opted for Midland Lead from the outset; a move that has seen it stock our rolled lead in more than 20 different thicknesses over the past eight years.
Along with a few of Midland Lead’s ancillaries, the lead sheet joins more than 3000 items, resulting in a huge variety of building materials available in stock.
Always on hand to offer advice and guidance, general manager Tim Payne – one of a team of 65 knowledgeable and friendly staff working across the company – says the lead they sell is predominately bought for use on new builds, roofing projects and extensions.
With lead sales remaining steady and a long supplier relationship built up over the last eight years, Tim notes what attributes he values in a supplier: “Being part of the H&B group, price is obviously key, but I also value good service and reliability.”
With two branches in Southampton and one in Bournemouth, Tim goes on to explain that a forth branch is very close on the horizon. “With a £1.5 million investment behind it, we’ll soon be launching a new depot in Andover, Hampshire. It’s a two acre site, with a 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse and a 5,000 sq. ft. shop.”
Tim says the new branch is just one part of much larger expansion plan that will see the firm grow to seven or eight branches over the next decade, as well as expand its already vast product range.
