The spotlight is on – Roofstore P&P Ltd

Company profile:

With highly trained staff boasting over 20 years’ experience within the roofing industry, Roofstore P & P Ltd prides itself on excellent customer service and a well-stocked range of high quality products.

The Isle of Wight’s only independent roofing merchant, the company is proud to have stocked our machine cast lead in various codes – as well as ancillaries including patination oil, lead dome sets, fixing clips and lead cleaning gel – since it was founded three years ago.

Jonathon Whale, who became one of the company directors this year, says: “Our relationship with Midland Lead has remained a constant since the business was set up.

“We’ve stuck with them, as we’ve been very happy with the service. We really value the relationship we have with the guys there. Couple that with their ability to fix any issues extremely quickly, and they’re a winning supplier.”

Continuing, he says demand for lead has been steady over the last couple of years: “Lead sales have been solid, and have actually showed a gradual increase. We get lots of returning customers and stock machine cast lead as we find most contractors on the island prefer it due to its value for money.”

Being a close-knit community on the island, Jonathon often gets to find out what sort of projects the lead sheet they sell is being used for.

“One of the most notable projects we worked with Midland Lead on was the restoration of heritage site Quarr Abbey. Approximately four tonnes of machine cast lead in code 6 was used to convert a flat church roof into a pitched roof,” he explains.

St. Mary’s Abbey at Quarr was founded in 1132. The Grade I listed monastic buildings and church are widely considered some of the most important 20th-century religious buildings in the UK.

“Yaverland Church has also just ordered code 8 and 6 for an upcoming project,” he adds.

With more exciting and prestigious projects on the horizon, Midland Lead looks forward to many more years working with Roofstore P & P Ltd.
