Staff Spotlight – Meet Jake Slade

Staff Spotlight - Meet Midland Lead's Sales Specification Manager Jake Slade

Midland Lead’s Jake Slade is one of the newest members of the team, who joined us earlier this year as our Sales Specification Manager. We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to introduce Jake and also tell you a little more about him with our searching Q&A’s.

How would you describe your day to day job? Although no two days in my job are ever the same, I help clients, architects and contractors in finding solutions to help their projects run as smoothly as possible. I also work towards finding new innovations so that the products and the service we offer are second to none.

Jake would love to trade places with Lewis Hamilton for a day!If you could swap your job for a day – whose job would you want? I’d love to do Lewis Hamilton’s job for a day, although he’s only a few days older than me, the talent gap is somewhat wider.

If you could learn to do anything new, what would it be? I’d love to speak a new language. I did spend a lot of my childhood learning French but I’ve forgotten most of it. Now if I try and speak French I just sound like Derek Trotter.

If you could pick one superpower – what would that be? Flying surely has to be the best superpower of them all right? The ability to get anywhere in the world anytime.

If you could talk to a 15-year-old you – what would you tell them? Not to worry about the things you can’t change and to change the things you can. It always works out in the end.

If you spend 30 minutes with anyone – who would that be? Sir Ranulph Fiennes, I think his outlook on life and what he has achieved is fascinating.

Finish this sentence: I once met… Nico Rosberg, albeit briefly whist I was on a site visit to the Mercedes F1 factory in Brackley.

Tell us 3 things most people at work don’t know about you. 1) I like to cook, I find it quite therapeutic. 2) I’m quite creative, I’ve made furniture, artwork and even a dolls house that took up half my kitchen.  3) I’m a keen golfer, I’ve played for years but I’m still not very good at it!

What is your favourite thing to do outside of work? I like to spend time with family and enjoy going for trips to theme parks and other attractions. I also like to do some DIY providing its nothing too ambitious.
