The spotlight is on – Ripley Building Plastics

Midland Lead The Spotlight Is On

Company profile:

Tony Kirkman, managing director of Ripley Building Plastics, has just celebrated five years since the business was incorporated. As such, we decided now was a good time to feature the company as one of our customer spotlights and delve into his relationship with Midland Lead.

Previously a self-employed builder, Tony set up the Derbyshire-based business in 2011 following an accident to his hand.

Utilising his experience within the industry, taking with him a real understanding when it comes to what the customer wants, Tony put his dream into reality and created a firm that not only supplies building products, but also offers advice and help.

A family-run business, today Tony manages a team of eight that includes his wife Julie and niece Becky. Supplying soffit, fascia, guttering and roofing materials, among others, to the trade and general public in Nottingham and Derby, Tony has stocked Midland Lead’s lead sheet from the offset.

Asked why he chose Midland Lead over other lead sheet manufacturers, he says: “Of course, price in king in our trade, but I must say the presentation of the lead is fantastic. I also value the relationship we have built up with Midland Lead. They’re really good people, we speak to them on a weekly basis, and they also offer great service and product availability.”

As well as being personally happy with the product, Tony says his customers – who use the lead sheet for everything from old churches to new builds and renovations – are also happy.

Growing year on year, the company currently sells an average of 70 tonnes of machine cast lead sheet annually, as well as ancillaries including fixing clips, patination oil and multi-slates.

Looking forward, we hope to see continued growth at Ripley Building Plastics and a great working relationship with Midland Lead over the next five years.
