The spotlight is on – Henlow Building Supplies

The Spotlight in On - Mitcham Building Supplies

Company profile:

Bedfordshire’s Henlow Building Supplies was established back in 1978, when it began life as a small hardware and ironmongery shop. Today, the business has built up a strong customer base of local builders, tradesmen and keen DIYers, and is still run by present managing director David Curson and his brother-in-law Paul Sapiano.

David’s two sons, Chris and Paul, have also since joined the company, continuing the family’s traditional values of personal service and knowledgeable advice.

From a large showroom and shop area, Henlow stocks a huge selection of products, including Midland Lead’s machine cast lead sheet and patination oil, fixing clips and lead slate ancillaries.

Chris, who works as Henlow’s buyer, recalls when the company’s relationship with Midland Lead first began: “We started stocking Midland Lead’s machine cast lead in December 2003. While they’re part of the IBC buying group, which offers us a great price, we also value their service; they’re a very friendly and cheerful team!

“We’ve stayed with Midland Lead all these years as the lead sells well and our customers are happy with the product. We sell mainly to general builders who work on housing renovations and extensions, and also have one customer, who buys a large quality of lead, who works for an engineering firm,” he explains.

Pitching themselves as the “missing link between a general builders’ merchant and a DIY superstore”, Henlow’s extra services and niche products look set to see the company continue to thrive for many more years to come.
