Research shows lead is greenest
The independent Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) recently performed a study to compare the environmental impact of lead sheet as a weatherproofing material with that of its substitutes (including PiB, SEBS modified bitumen, polyester, EPDM and PVC). TNO concluded that lead sheet has the best environmental performance as a weatherproofing product – largely due to its long service life and the limited need for primary raw materials.
