Midland Lead supports merchants with UK Roofing Awards 2017 entries
The UK Roofing Awards, hosted by the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NRFC), has become known as an industry-wide event that recognises and rewards outstanding standards of workmanship and safety within the roofing industry.
In a bid to support our network of builders’ merchants and bring their lead projects the recognition they deserve, here at Midland Lead we’re offering help and assistance with this year’s award entries.
Covering 12 roofing disciplines, including lead roofing, entries for the competition run from October ’16 to February ’17 with projects short-listed afterwards. The awards are free to enter and, as well as offering recognition for outstanding work, they also help to provide merchants and contractors with a competitive edge.
In previous years, Midland Lead has supported merchants and contractors such as Hannam & Sons, for their extensive work on the Grade II listed Bridge Buildings in Barnstaple, as well as Roofstore P&P Ltd for the work they carried out on monastery Quarr Abbey, based on the Isle of Wight.
The team at Midland Lead can work with merchants to fill out and submit the competition forms and will even organise a professional photographer to take images of the project.
Entrants are asked to demonstrate complexity, workmanship, challenges, project management and safety of a project. High quality images need to be submitted to support each part of the application. A good set of photographs includes one or two long shots of the finished roof, a few works in progress and a few mid-range ones of a finished or partly finished details. As a supplier member of the NFRC, Midland Lead can support merchants in gathering most of this for submission.
NRFC’s PR and marketing coordinator, Laura Mason, stresses that photography is the key to being shortlisted:
“The best advice I can give for entrants is to get good shots of the project. Judges don’t just want to see a finished overview, they want to see a project’s progression. So many applicants don’t get past the first stage because they include poor images.
“It’s great that Midland Lead is going to help people enter the awards. For a lot of merchants, it can seem daunting. Many are put off if they think their projects aren’t ‘big’ enough, but even the smallest of projects can win.”
The 2017 Roofing Awards are now open for entry and the deadline for submissions is 10 February 2017. Winners will be celebrated in front of over 700 guests at the Roofing Awards ceremony on Friday 19 May at the Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge, London.
