Meet Stephanie Machin

Getting to know Stephanie Machin – Customer Sales Advisor at Midland Lead

Having only joined Midland Lead towards the end of September 2015, Stephanie Machin may be one of our newest recruits, but she is already showing real headway in the business.

Stephanie initially joined us on a two-week work experience opportunity through Jobcentre Plus; a fantastic scheme that helps young jobseekers find and sustain employment through work experience placements. The scheme works to significantly improve employment prospects for young people; and for Stephanie, it did just that.

Following her work experience placement, she worked for a further three months in reception, where she was quickly able to learn the ropes of the business. Recognising her enthusiasm to progress and natural aptitude for talking to people, we offered Stephanie a customer service administrator role in our sales office.

Now fully settled in the new position and already feeling part of the team, we asked Stephanie a few questions to get to know her a little better…

What were you doing prior to joining the team at Midland Lead?

“I was a stay-at-home mum to my 5-year-old daughter, Lacey.”

What interested you about your current role as customer service administrator?

“I really like to talk to people. My job focuses on dealing with customer queries, ETAs and taking orders over the phone, so it’s perfect for me!”

Best thing about working at Midland Lead? 

“Definitely the people; they’re all really easy to get on with. We’re like one big happy family!”

Who’s your inspiration in the workplace?

“I really look up to Catherine Dolman, our Export Sales Co-Ordinator. She’s helped me no end since I’ve been with the company. I wouldn’t have been able to progress to the role I’m in now without all the help and support she’s offered me.”

What do you like doing out of work?

“Spending time with my daughter is my priority, so taking her out for the day is what I enjoy doing most outside of work.”

What are you never seen without? 

“My phone!”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

“Definitely Disney World in Florida. I’d enjoy the sunshine and my daughter would absolutely love the parks, shows and parades, not to mention meeting all the Disney characters!”

How would your friends describe you?

“As a chatterbox, which is perfect for the role I’m in.”
