Getting to know Wendy Pearson

Wendy Pearson has worked at Midland Lead for 16 years in a variety of different roles. She credits her long career with the company to how friendly everyone is. We had a chat with Wendy about her role as financial administrator and learnt about her love for Patrick Swayze…

Why did you decide to join the team at Midland Lead?

“It feels so long ago now so I can’t even remember how the initial circumstances came about! My first role was as a receptionist. I do know that upon meeting everyone, I was bowled over by how friendly it is here. The people are nice and the job is challenging which is perfect.”

What does your role involve?

“Mainly processing invoices! It can get quite hectic, especially at month end. It’s important to stay calm as we’re responsible for managing the accounts receivable and payable.”

What do you like doing outside of work?

“I love spending time with my family and friends, going to the cinema, and going to the pub!

One thing I always look forward to is visiting my sister in Canada. She has lived there for about 6 years now and we try and visit twice a year. She lives out in the sticks in the County of Haliburton, which is about 2 hours away from Toronto.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Hawaii! To be honest, I don’t even know why I want to go there. But every time I see a photo of it, I think about how much I want to go. It looks amazing. Especially on a cold and dreary day in England, get me to Hawaii!”

If you could live in a book, TV show or movie, what would it be?

*answers very quickly* “A romantic comedy! Any of them will do, but perhaps Dirty Dancing. It’s my favourite. I’ve seen it 6 times at the theatre in London. I was so sad about Patrick Swayze dying, I’m still sad!”

What is your strongest personal quality?

“I have the patience of a saint! That is very important if you work in finance. I also like to think that I’m easy to talk to.”

What is a skill you would like to learn and why?

“I regret never having learnt to sew. It’s a good life skill. I have no idea if I would be any good at it, I am not creative at all.”

What does a perfect Sunday look like to you?

“I would be sat by a roaring fire on a cold day, with a glass of wine in my hand and reading a good book. Ideally somebody would be cooking me a roast dinner too!”
