Getting to Know Midland Lead’s Charlotte Saunby

At the end of June this year, Charlotte Saunby joined Midland Lead’s Finance Team in the newly created role of Purchase Coordinator. Having now had a good three months in the position, we pulled her aside to chat about her new role, passion for saving money and to find out just how she once ended up on TV being styled by one of the UK’s best-known fashionistas…

What role were you doing before joining Midland Lead?

“Prior to Midland Lead, I worked as a buyer in the souvenir/gift department of a photography company who operated in the theme parks and entertainment industry.”  

Why did you decide to join the team at Midland Lead?

“The role was newly created, which appealed to me. It’s meant that I can start with a blank sheet and really put my stamp on it.”

What does your role involve?

“Midland Lead created the role to make savings and centralise purchasing. So my job sees me source items that people need for the best cost, raise all the POs, run cost-saving exercises and review different activities and departments to save money.”

What’s the best thing about working for Midland Lead?

“I have a genuine passion for saving money, so when I’m able to do that for Midland Lead, I really do enjoy it!”

How would your colleagues describe you?

“I hope they’d say I’m bubbly, make a good cup of tea, and know how to drive a good bargain!”

What do you like doing out of work?

“I like socialising, going to the pub with friends, and spending time with my partner Tom and 3-year-old stepson Toby.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

“I’d love to go to the Maldives in South Asia with my partner. As well as just generally relaxing, I’d like to try snorkelling in the reefs surrounding the islands.”

If you won £1m, what would you do with it?

“I’d use it to help my family, invest in a house and buy a car, and I’d definitely carry on working at Midland Lead.”

Tell me something not many people know about you.

“I once modelled for Gok Wan on This Morning! A couple of years ago, I was at home watching the show and a request came up for real models. I text in and was chosen. I got an all-expenses-paid trip to the studio and modelled an outfit for Gok’s fashion segment on dressing women of different shapes and sizes. It was a great experience, I really enjoyed it!”
