Wedo is an international charitable organisation that promotes women’s rights, gender equality, and sustainable development around the world. The projects located in Lobito, Namibe and Luanda were financially supported by the UK Government through their UK Export Finance programme.

The Requirement

Across the three projects, Midland Lead supplied a total of 20 tonnes of lead sheet, manufactured in three different thicknesses:

• 1.0mm

• 1.5mm

• 2.0mm

Careful coordination was required to ensure there was smooth and accurate distribution once the product arrived in country.

The Solution

With extensive experience in the manufacture and supply of lead sheet, Midland Lead provided Wedo with a single, dependable supply partner for the full contract requirement. The order comprised 1150 square metres of lead rolls supplied in 1.0mm, 1.5mm and 2.0mm thickness, used as a lead based radiation protective wall shield at all three hospital developments.

Midland Lead worked closely with Wedo and their logistics partner Venture Vanguard to coordinate the supply of the material, helping to ensure that the required lead sheet was correctly and promptly distributed to all of the hospital sites.

The Result

The successful supply of 20 tonnes of lead sheet demonstrates Midland Lead’s ability to manage large-volume, multi-project orders while supplying a range of products which meet individual project requirements.

By supplying all three hospital projects, Midland Lead provided Wedo with a consistent and reliable source of specialist lead sheet for its construction programme in Angola.
