Al-Falah Hospital, Oman

ML Chevrons

Al-Falah Hospital is a significant new healthcare development in Jalan Bani Bu Ali, South Al Sharqiyah, Oman, built to expand access to specialist medical services for the surrounding population. Central to the project are modern diagnostic and clinical facilities, including advanced X-ray and medical imaging departments - areas that demand rigorous radiation protection to safeguard patients, staff and visitors.

The Challenge

X-ray and imaging rooms generate ionising radiation that must be contained within the controlled clinical space. To prevent transmission into adjacent areas, the hospital required a high-integrity lead shielding system - one that would deliver reliable protection while remaining practical to install within specialist imaging environments.

The Solution

Working alongside local consultant Riaz Kader of Interface International, Midland Lead Supplied 576mÇ of 2mm Thick lead sheet to customer Al Khalili Construction LLC for use in the hospital’s Radiology Department, forming a continuous, high-density shielding barrier within the walls and designated shielding structures of the diagnostic areas.

The 2mm lead layer works as part of a wider radiation protection strategy, complementing the room design, structural construction and specialist imaging equipment to control radiation exposure beyond the controlled spaces.

Project Impact

The completed shielding installation enables the hospital’s X-ray and imaging facilities to operate safely, protecting everyone in surrounding areas from unnecessary radiation exposure.

For Midland Lead, the project reinforces its capability to supply high-quality lead radiation shielding materials for major healthcare developments internationally - supporting customers like Al Khalili Construction in delivering modern diagnostic infrastructure from specification to installation.
