Midland Lead is one of the few lead sheet manufacturers able to produce lead sheet as thin as 0.44mm (Code 1) and as thick as 3.55mm (Code 8), which makes it suitable for various applications such as weatherproofing, soundproofing and radiation shielding. Our lead sheet is produced to EN Code Weights and is available in all standard flashing widths and lengths, as shown on our weight chart. In addition, we can produce special sizes of lead sheet upon request - ideal for bespoke buildings, soundproofing or radiation shielding.
Weatherproofing
One of the most common usages of lead sheet is as a weatherproofing material in the building industry - due to lead's high resistance to corrosion. Our lead sheet is suitable for all building applications, including flat and pitched roofing, flashings, gutters, parapets and all other lead detail work. What's more, over the years more than 400,000 tonnes of our lead sheet has been used successfully on roofs throughout the UK and worldwide. Some of that material has even been specified in prestigious buildings such as Cardiff Castle, Windsor Castle and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton.

Soundproofing
Lead sheet is an excellent noise stopper. It is both heavy and soft, which means lead will stop much noise because of its weight and it will dampen the noise due to its soft characteristic. So, it's no surprise our lead sheet is increasingly used to control noise in the entertainment industry - in hotels, music studios or clubs - and in the marine industry (for example to stop noise from engine rooms). We can produce lead sheet to your exact specification to best suit your soundproofing needs. In addition we also produce lead-lined boards for these purposes.

Radiation shielding
Our lead sheet is available in thicknesses varying from 0.44mm to 3.55mm to suit many different radiation shielding duties. Our thin lead sheet has often been used by the medical industry in X-ray rooms and for portable X-ray screens, while our heavy grade lead sheet is used by the marine industry in nuclear powered vessels - both to protect from radiation. For radiation shielding applications, both medical and industrial, lead sheet is often laminated to other materials for convenience of handling.
